So What Is Emotionally Focused Therapy Like?

Do you find yourself getting stuck in painful or confusing cycles in your relationships? Does it seem like the same patterns of interaction keep you with the same feelings of pain or disconnection?

A part of being in the human family means we long to be truly known and loved by a safe other. When that doesn’t or hasn’t happened, our nervous system can get hijacked. We protect our pain with certain moves on the outside, while on the inside we suffer alone. Your person is right there, but feels miles apart.

Together we’ll explore blocks to connection, and create safety to deepen the bond in your relationship to self and other.

 My goal is to create safety to explore while gently encouraging you to the leading edge of vulnerability; right where trust is grown and developed, & where confidence and deeper bonds are born. We’ll look for blocks to the authentic self together and learn how trauma impacts our core sense of self, which can lock us into painful cycles of isolation.

I know it’s hard. We all struggle in different ways to live within relational systems and adapt to its demands. We long for unconditional love and acceptance and sometimes find ourselves reactive or stuck when it’s not there. A safe person to gently receive your story may help improve connection and responsiveness to promote happiness that’s long overdue.
